Naltrexone is not right for everyone. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine if naltrexone is right for you. If you take opioid-based medications as prescribed or recreationally or if you use illicit drugs that contain opioids, you cannot begin treatment with naltrexone until you stop taking opioids. The most common side effect of naltrexone is nausea.
If medication is right for you it will be prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional and sent discreetly to your door.
Everyone's goals and circumstances are unique. However you'd like to change your relationship with alcohol, we make it simple to get started.
Answer a few simple questions to see if treatment is right for you. It takes just a few minutes and can be done on your smartphone.

Oar Health provides access to safe & effective medication FDA-approved for the treatment of alcohol issues.
A daily pill proven to reduce alcohol cravings and make it easier to drink less or quit.
Naltrexone works by cooling off the pleasure and reward pathways activated by alcohol. Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist that binds to opioid receptors in the brain and blocks the endogenous opioids created by your body when you drink.
If you take naltrexone and then drink alcohol, the typical endorphin release is effectively blocked, thereby preventing the feel-good "buzz" that drinking typically provides.
If you take naltrexone and continue to drink with less of the traditional "buzz" then alcohol is no longer as rewarding and you will likely drink less as a result.
Further, multiple clinical studies have shown that naltrexone can lead to reduced alcohol cravings and fewer thoughts overall about alcohol.
This can lead to less interest in daily drinking and less heavy drinking.

I battled alcoholism for 12 years.
It started with just an occasional drink. Eventually I was drinking all day, everyday. My life became a mess, filled with blackouts, health issues, and shame.
Last year, I decided enough was enough. I did some research on ways to stop drinking and found medication that could help.
I started my prescription last February. Since then I have relapsed just once.
Today, it has been almost 200 days since my last drink. Sober, I feel much better about myself. My health issues went away and I lost the extra weight I gained.
However, it’s still a daily battle that I fight. Some days are hard. Other days I do not even think of alcohol.
But, I know now there is a brighter side to life.

My relationship with alcohol was destructive and out of control.
I turned to alcohol to cope with stress, numb my emotions, and escape from my problems. It became a crutch that I relied on to get through the day.
Since starting with Oar my relationship with alcohol has changed drastically. I have reduced my cravings for alcohol and become much more mindful of my drinking habits.
I no longer feel the overwhelming urge to drink to excess. I am able to enjoy social situations without relying on alcohol to have a good time.
No longer controlled by alcohol, I am finally able to live my life to the fullest without being weighed down by addiction.

The medication gave me the kick that I needed to start, and then stick with, sobriety. It hasn't been easy but I've been sober for 13 months and counting!

I was an alcoholic for 18 years.
Life was not good. I abused people close to me. I spent time in jail.
I tried to quit many times. I went to rehab. I tried antabuse. I tried praying to a higher power. I even went to India to try alternate therapies.
None of it worked. My alcohol cravings never subsided. Finally, I reached a new low. I almost died from alcohol.
I decided to try Oar. After a week a miracle happened. All my cravings subsided. The insanity ended.
Sober for two months, my life is 100% better. My relationship with my wife and daughter have improved enormously.
They are so happy to see me sober.
The new approach worked. I am living proof.
